Fatty's Phoenix Avatar was pretty GD dope--animators killin' it again. In the novel it was described as having seven 'heads' but I didn't really see that here. It looked more like a single head, purple crown, and seven tails lol. It wasn't what I had envisioned but I love it. Damn I'm gonna miss his phoenix/chicken avatar tho LOL. Looks like we missed out on Buddha TS 2.0. In the novel TS gets more than soot on his face--his hair gets burned off 😂.

The part with SeaGod’s admonishment of Xiao Bai for blurting out the “supposed secret” was quite comical. This part here actually doesn’t hold water even in the novel. Given TS’s intelligence, he should have known it from the moment when Bo Saixi specifically said his trial concerned the life and death of SeaGod Island and that he bows to no one. Yes, he started suspecting something but none of the Shrek Devils seem to notice anything. In the novel, everyone didn’t even know their genius companion was actually the SeaGod successor until they saw TS’s vision in the sky when he successfully pulled out the trident. And that was just before they left the island 4.5 years later.

I went to check on the official Weibo DD homepage again and it seems the rift between the “SanWu” fans aka mainly the rabbit fans and the original novel fans is just getting bigger and bigger. The latter complained that they no longer could go on the official homepage to rationally discuss the plots like before because the rabbit fans were just bombarding every post with endless pics of the bunny and mindless comments like “XW is so beautiful… blah blah blah”. The rabbit fans kept demanding extra screen time and more “couple moments” for their bunny and the producer actually acquiesced to their demand.

The part where TS hardly helped Rong Rong up the stairs and later TS actually carried XW up the stairs instead of piggybacking her was severely criticised by the novel fans, that TS used XW as a shield to block off the frontal pressure of the SeaGod light. Now that I think of it, it kinda makes sense, TS looks all lovey dovey carrying XW in his arms but logically it just doesn’t work because his BSE domain is not able to block off the pressure completely. But what is done is done. Although i hated that ridiculous plot armour the author gave XW, I actually enjoyed that episode very much. The production team certainly earned themselves a pat on the back for their impressive animation. Do check out the comments if you have time! They are really entertaining! 🤣🤣

I noticed Gogo has been using the Tencent subs lately, I was really hoping they would use Crimson subs but maybe both parties didn't manage to reach any agreement. My bias for Crimson is mainly because they are the only website that uses the original terms from the novel. However, like every other donghua translators, most of them seem to have major problems with English pronouns which is also why I settled for Tencent in the end.

Yeah I don't disagree. As much as I like Fatty's new getup...his change is so radical that it's a completely different character. I would have much preferred just a more muscular version of our Fatty. I was okay with TS's makeover because it had a good explanation and..well..I never liked his dorky uniform and spikey hair anyway LOL.

As for the body shaming, that doesn't surprise me. Asian media never misses an opportunity to remind us that only wealthy Greek gods are acceptable in society. And the fanbases are even more toxic than the creators. It's no wonder the suicide rate is so high among Asian actors 🤦‍♂️. The novel is way worse than the anime this way. The appearance comparisons were funny at first, but the author's repeated obsession with ranking them is pathological. Prioritizing looks/attributes over everything else does nothing but cheapen the story, and it's a main reason why I believe the best Japanese anime is far superior to Chinese in character writing/development.

I didn't take it as body shaming as much as fatty misunderstanding the reason she is hesitant, and mischaracterizing her as a vain sexually motivated person, in much the same way that he frequently misunderstands her

In the novel, one thing that I didn’t like is that they also made it seem like she didn’t like Ma Hongjun until he lost weight, which is obviously not the case. The reason they didn’t get along was because of his pushy personality. She grows to love him even when he’s bigger in size and when she sees that he’s finally strong enough to protect her, it begins to be harder for her to hold back her feelings. That’s why her heart was racing, she didn’t even see what he looked like yet when she asked that question. I don’t like how the author made it seem like he had no value when he was bigger because that’s obviously not true either. He’s the strongest after Dai Mubai. My one thing is that if you know these characters and you watch the show, read the manhua, and finished the novel, you can stick to the things that are constant and throw out the inconsistencies in the character development that the author put in there for a failed comedic effect. Xiao Bai isn’t the type of girl to discriminate against someone because of their weight, end of story. I still enjoyed this episode it was fun and I can understand why cultivating with something that aggressive would make him lose weight so I’m not terribly upset by it. What upsets me the most is trying to pass off his weight loss as if he’s somehow better than he was before. He was so obviously handsome even before the weight loss. His face was incredibly handsome, he’s tall, he has a clumsy, funny, and kind personality, It’s not like he wasn’t cute as hell before. He’s always been hot, weight loss or no. Fatty got slim and all, but his personality, fortunatelly or unfortunatelly, didn't change a bit... why girl didn't accept him was mostly, because he doesn't read the room well, his social skills are not nearly as strong as his soul power, LOL...
